Flying Ace Road Surfer
29L x 5.5W x 4.5H inches.
Los Angeles, CA.
2025.
Driftwood, Thermal adhesive, Nails.
A tribute to the original Flying Ace Road Surfer — a steel-wheeled skateboard first produced in the 1960s by Moen-Patton, Inc. At 30 inches long and just over 5 inches wide it was outfitted with a steel brake system and steel wheels — a bold design for kids chasing the thrill of surfing on pavement.
.
My version is made entirely from wood harvested off the beach — sun-bleached, saltworn, and shaped by the ocean itself - This art piece is honoring the fearless energy of those early days when kids turned sidewalks into surf breaks and steel into flight.
