Ten Thousand Waves

79L x 11W x 8.5D inches
Los Angeles, CA.
2025.
Carved wood, Stain (indigo), Oil, Sconce lighting.

A hand-carved monolith that sways between organic and surreal, “Ten Thousand Waves” rises from the floor like a cactus caught mid-sway or a tide frozen in motion. Its deep blue surface echoes oceanic depths, while the rippling form feels both ancient and futuristic. Embedded with minimalist sconce lighting, the piece becomes a functional sculpture — The tactile surface invites touch, but the glow offers its own kind of intimacy.

Carving these wood pieces is a very meditative practice for me, bringing great joy as I shape something that echoes the natural world.
